RULES AND REGS

Teams:

  • Teams must have a minimum of 6 players and a max of 8. (4 guys and 4 girls)

  • Players may only play on one team.

  • All players must be between the ages of 21-40.

Captain's Responsibilities:

  • It is the captain’s responsibility to familiarize each team member with the rules of tennis. There’s no need to read all 250 pages of Friend at Court, just make sure you know which way to hold the racquet.

  • Make sure you are allowing each player on the team to be able to play each week if they so desire.

  • Captains must have a current email address in order to receive league information throughout the season.

  • All captains will be given a scorecard when they check in at their facility. If the captain, for some reason, cannot fulfill their captain duties they will appoint another member on the team to be acting captain for the night.

 Match Format:

  • A match will consist of three doubles matches (Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles, Mixed Doubles)

  • If a Captain cannot field a complete team, you could have one of your players play twice in that match

  • All matches are 40 minutes including a 5 minute warm-up.

  • Match default time is 15 minutes after the scheduled start time.

  • If a player/team is up to 5 minutes late, they are down 1 game. If a player/team is 5–10 minutes late, they are down 2 games. If a player/team is 10-15 minutes late, they are down 3 games. Anything past 15 minutes is a default for that team.

  • Captains will be given two cans of balls when they check in at the facility.

  • In the case of inclement weather, we will push the match back to the following week. You can email us your scores.

Scoring:

  • The winner of the match will be determined by the following:

    • Matches are 1 set (First to 6 no-ad scoring) or 40 minutes (including warm-up), whichever comes first. Once the 40 minutes is up, the next match will begin play. 

    • The total number of games will be added up and the team with the most games wins the match.

    • If a game is in progress when the time limit is reached, whichever team is ahead wins that game.

    • If a game is tied when the time limit is reached a deciding point will be played to determine the winner of that game.

  • How to play a deciding point.

    • Serve stays in rotation.

    • The receiving team will decide which player will receive the serve.

    • If the receiver doesn’t choose a side/person and the point if played, the point stands.

  • Match winner is determined by matches won (2 out of 3 doubles)

  • You may substitute players at any time during the match. The player that subbed out cannot sub back in for any reason.

  • Each team match will be given 1 court to play all matches. We encourage both teams to be on the court cheering on their teammates. Please refrain from getting into any fights. We don’t need any blood on the courts, plus our insurance will not cover you.

  • Overall winner is determined by matches won. (Best record) In the event that the standings are tied the method to break the tie will be most games won overall.
